Where I work, the dress code is “anything goes”. It’s a creative sort of place, and everybody works long, hard hours, so the powers that be figure we ought to at least be comfortable. But that doesn’t mean that nobody pays attention to their appearance. On the contrary, it seems that everybody is trying to out-casual everybody else.

One of the un-fashion trends at our office is wearing funny t-shirts. Having the very latest funny or ironic shirt before anyone else can be a major coup. It’s pretty hard to keep ahead of the curve on that, though. So what I’ve been doing lately is trying to match my apparel to the occasion. For example, the other day I was in charge of running an internal team meeting. So, being a sort of “master of ceremonies” I chose to go formal.

I wore a tuxedo t-shirt like the one Lloyd had in the movie Dumb and Dumber. It went over great and made me a sort of minor folk hero for a day. Of course now everybody else is already getting in on the new trend. If you have any great ideas along these lines, feel free to share in the comments.
