A Google’s New Algorithm Update and How You Can Take Advantage Of It
A few days ago, Google updated its algorithm based on a previous “Caffeine” update. The idea is simply to bring more “freshness” to search engine results.
The underlying hypothesis is that relevant results are the ones relevant now. Of course it’s an idea they had to steal from social networks and other human powered reviewed information networks.
Google says it will affect 35% of the search engine results, since they will try as much as possible, and for any query, to weigh whether you want to find fresh information or not.
The most interesting thing to me is that now Google renders Javascript!
Yes, they will index everything in the Facebook comments (on any page you have FB comments enabled).
Of course this new update will help many people get top rankings simply because they post new / fresh content onto their website on a regular basis (Google getting closer to “real time” indexing), and by allowing other people to comment, especially through Facebook comment box.
An idea that could really help any of your blog or web page to stand out of the crowd: drop a FB comment box in there, and run a comment contest among your readers (you should ask them to comment about a specific article you wrote making sure your “keywords” will be the main topic).
Alternatively, you could hire people at fiverr to start populating your FB comments section with relevant comments.
Panda’s update was about decreasing the relevancy of content farm (for example, you won’t find many top rankings from Ezinearticles articles)
Caffine’s update (which is improved today) is about relevancy through freshness. And they understand social network content (like Facebook comments) are part of it and must be indexed to evaluate relevancy and “real time” freshness.
I hope this was useful and that it will help you get higher rankings. On my end, my teams already started implementing this on many of our web properties. Do not procrastinate, it’s easy to do, and you’ll get results for sure.
